Day Four: Chateau to Cannes to the Antibes!

Its safe to say, the next day we were all hating that stupid "snake shot" - we called it. Deadly deadly hangover. Double bags on the bus for everyone pretty much. No one looked remotely attractive that day. My eye, randomly enough had swollen up. Not sure why. But it wasn't particularly pretty.
After singing the day song; 'No tomorrow' by Orson, we were in better spirits. We arrived in Avignon a short while later. Saw the Pont d'Avignon as we entered the Popes Palace part of the city. Just gorgeous. Lovely day as well... Too warm for the old jumper again.

We walked into Popes Palace and checked our surroundings. There were so many cute markets bulging with bracelets (Lauren was in heaven!) and jewellery to choose from. It had a very french vibe, especially seeing this old man busking;

We bought a few souvenirs and wandered off to find lunch. We discovered this little cafe and bought a baguette - oh gosh they were goood! Saw the cutest little pain au chocolats too. Ahh French food was just overwhelming me still. Too good.

Next stop: GELATO! Found this adorable corner store selling a huge range of gelato! Bliss. Spotted one of my absolute favourite French words: Pamplemousse = Pink grapefruit. Took me back in a time machine to dreaded vocab tests in French class a few years back. Ugh.

We hopped back on the bus. But with only 49 of us. Where was Mexico? Garai went searching while we waited in the bus. Neither Lauren or I could imagine missing the bus and being stranded in a strange place. Everyone felt awful, but we had to press on. We had to leave her behind with her address list and with the hope that she would be alright and make it to the next campsite, in the Antibes.

We stopped off in Grasse, Cannes and visited the French parfumery; Fragonade. We smelt some lovely perfumes and some shockers. It was interesting seeing how it was made but to say the least, everyone was pretty tired at this point.

We then ventured on to the Antibes, our next two nights accomodation. We dropped off our luggage and were greeted with a lovely surprise. Frog legs! They looked absolutely disgusting but "When in France..." We forced ourselves to try them;

After mixed reviews we decided they were gross and there was next to no meat even on these.. ahh little pair of legs. Ew.
Anyway, the general consensus after dinner was to walk down and check out the beach. Although rocky, it was still very refreshing and reminded me of wellington. Lee (aka another kiwi) was a tank and even had a quick dip! Good man.

Lauren + me + a few of the boys ran off to the funfair together for a very childish yet fun sober night out. We went on the Zorbs on water for a good half hour or so. All attempting to stand in our own zorbs, or move and in Lauren's case survive. Her ball was so humid I couldn't even see her. We came out of our Zorbs, both proud of our run attempts and drenched in sweat. Lovely.

Next was the bumper cars! We had way too much fun banging into each other and ganging on Dave. We couldn't help but play several times more. Some of us tried out the trampolines while the rest of us rested and gathered our breaths. We then headed back to the campsite bar and just chilled with a few drinks telling ghost stories. Fun times. Tomorrow: Nice!!
